Description
TUDCA (tauroursodeoxycholic acid) is an endogenous secondary bile acid formed by taurine conjugation of ursodeoxycholic acid in the liver. It functions as an endoplasmic reticulum stress inhibitor, mitochondrial membrane stabilizer, and anti-apoptotic signaling modulator across hepatocellular, neuronal, and retinal cell populations, acting through suppression of the unfolded protein response (UPR) and stabilization of the mitochondrial permeability transition pore (mPTP). Its well-established oral bioavailability and natural role as a bile acid undergoing enterohepatic circulation make capsule format the standard and mechanistically appropriate delivery method for TUDCA in preclinical research models.
Storage and Handling
Store in a cool, dry place away from heat, moisture, and direct light. Keep container tightly sealed when not in use. TUDCA is stable under standard ambient storage conditions; refer to the lot-specific certificate of analysis for specific requirements.
